I didn't realize that Grant and Russell were such close friends until I read this story by Jason Cole of Yahoo Sports.
I am a big Deon Grant fan, but don't know too much about Brian Russell. What I do know is that these two will be a big improvement over Hamlin and Boulware. Grant was on with Mitch Levy this morning on KJR and he said that he NEVER gets beat deep.
Here is a story about Brian Russell written by Dave Boling of the Tacoma News Tribune.
Hamlin was one of the most overrated players by Seahawks fans. He always went for the big hit so he could be on Jacked Up Monday night. While his occasionally big hit was fun to watch, he cost this team games because he missed too many tackles. He had no deep coverage skills and was always getting brunt. The Cowboys secondary is in for a long season with Hamlin and Roy Williams back there.
Another interesting part to Cole's piece was how the Holmgren is added more movement pre-snap to the offense. I like this wrinkle. It will keep the defense thinking, plus it will get Branch and Buerlson moving around the field. The only major movement the Hawks used last year was Alexander splitting out into a reciever position from the backfield. At times the offense was predictable and with the improvment of the other teams in the division, minus St. Louis, the Seahawks need to have a little different look this season.
