The Seattle PI ran a great story about the state of Husky Stadium. The biggest thing I see that's sad about this story is that the University wants to get rid of the track around the field. The track is a unique, special part of the Husky Gameday experience. When you think about gameday in Montlake you think of going to the Bookstore and buying a new purple sweater vest, eating cheese and drinking a couple glasses of wine, and talking on your cell phone while watching the game being played behind the track.
I do think that Washington has to have its own stadium. The idea of permanently using Qwest Field as its home is not a good idea. Using Qwest as a temporary home would work while they renovate Husky Stadium. It will be interesting to see if they can raise enough money to make the changes that are necessary. Just make sure to keep the track.Husky Stadium aging not so gracefully [Seattle PI]
